ABOUT OUR BONFIRE NIGHT

Bonfire night at Cedar Farm
Remember remember the fifth of November gunpowder, treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder, treason should ever be forgot...

Since the 5th November 1605 when Guy Fawkes was caught with several dozen barrels of gunpowder attempting to blow up the Houses of Parliament, we have celebrated Bonfire Night. It’s great fun every year – music, games, fireworks, a bonfire and family and friends coming together to celebrate.

Bonfire Night however is also a time of year that is dreaded by many pet owners and their pets. The sky is lit up and many pets suffer fear and terror at the sound of the firework explosions. Caroline Reay, Blue Cross chief vet said: “So many pets are terrified of fireworks; they can get into a real state. We’ve seen pets who have been so scared they have injured themselves trying to get away or hide in dangerous places. Some have even been killed after bolting from the house in front of a passing car”.

So what to do? Cedar Farm Pet Boarding sits in its own 5 acres outside of the quiet village of Burringham – there are no houses nearby where fireworks can be used. We specialise in looking after both cats, dogs and small animals during Bonfire Night by following guidelines set out by the RSPCA

  • Pets are all kept indoors (in our heated, double glazed accommodation).
  • All windows are closed and music is switched on to minimise the noise of fireworks.

At Cedar Farm we make sure that all of our guests remain calm and comfortable and enjoy their stay over the Bonfire and fireworks period.
